Leading Lodges roll out their Tourist Information Centre and a lot more besides!

04 Jul 2008

A first of it’s kind for Namibia, the new Tourist Information Centre

The night of Wednesday 2nd July 2008 saw the official launch of the new Tourist Information Centre located in the Independence Avenue in Windhoek.  Besides promoting its own products, Leading Lodges of Africa has made tremendous efforts in marketing Namibia as a whole, this resulting in benefits for all involved in Tourism. The Tourism Centre will enable all Namibian tourism products to be in one place for the benefit of the tourists visiting the country.

In collaboration with MWEB Namibia, The new Book Cellar, Jacob Berg Photography and Intouch Interactive Marketing we are able to offer our valued tourists and travellers many facilities under one roof.  The centre will provide travellers speedy and wireless internet access in the Cybercafe, luggage storage, hire of satellite phones and GPS systems, the opportunity to buy books about Namibia, all in a relaxed bistro atmosphere. An additional benefit for tourists is that they can book accommodations, transfers, rental vehicles, fly in safaris and activities throughout Namibia via the booking office Leading Travel. An additional benefit is that 5 European languages are spoken at Leading Travel.

“This Tourist Information Centre is an extension of our International promotion of generically marketing Namibia and therefore we are giving everybody the opportunity to be part of this successful venture. This Tourist Information Centre is the first of its kind and our vision is to expand this concept to many other Tourist hubs all over Namibia” said Marketing Manager Director Olivier Van de Vijver at the launch, which was attended by The Right Honourable Prime Minister, His Worship Matheus Shikongo, The Honourable Dr Katjavivi, and many members in Tourism.

The launch was hosted by Leading Lodges of Africa, MWEB Namibia, Intouch Interactive Marketing and Fairview.  MWEB introduced their newly launched VSAT system which now enables the remote areas in Namibia to have internet access via satellite, such as the remote Lodges of Leading Lodges of Africa which now have a ‘live’ reservations system.  The newly established innovative Namibian based company, Intouch Interactive Marketing also launched their new and modern mediums of advertising. The evening was also hosted by Fairview, now also represented in Namibia, which gave guests the opportunity to taste some of their award winning wines and gourmet cheeses.

“I call on everyone here to look at the result of this cooperation. Ask yourself what you can do to strengthen your businesses, and to innovate and strengthen your prospects and secure the future of your industry” concluded The Right Honourable Prime Minister in his speech.
