How can I get a job without prior job experience?

March 312010

It seems like every job I apply for requires prior job experience. So how does anyone get a job for the first time?

Everybody gets their first job without experience!!!

Apply, apply, apply; be realistic: don’t apply for the CEO’s position; but, give youself credit for the good grades you made in school; the hobby you excelled at; the special talents you have.

Don’t apologize for not having a prior job; simply state that you will do the best job you can.

Don’t mention your insecurities or shortcomings; simply state that you are here to begin and that you are willing to learn.

Any personnnel director worth their salt will hire you if you are honest, sincere, and earnest.

GOOD LUCK!!!

When writing a curriculum vitae in Spanish, is professional experience in 1st or 3rd person?

March 312010

For example, would I write

doy medicamentos OR da medicacamentos?

I need to know for the present tense and past tense. Thanks!

I would avoid using verbs in either first or third person; try to stick to adjectives like "responsable por" or nouns like "administración de medicamentos".

Here is a sample CV in Spanish.

It might very well be worth your while to pay a professional translator to produce an impressive standard CV that you could adapt for many different job applications. Make sure they give it to you as a Word document, not just a hard copy.

What was your experience with Automatic Writing?

March 312010

I tried it today – A couple words were Italian and a couple were from ancient country called Media (which is currently Northern Iran).
Several words came up that I cannot find a English translation for.
Next time I do this I will definitely ask for my Spirit Guide to write in English. I actually found this fun and interesting.
What experiences have you had?

I can do it rather well. I have had numerous experiences with it writing in different styles etc. Much like a person ouija board I believe.

How do I put internship experience in my resume?

March 312010

I’m in the process of writing my resume and I have internship experience. I was wondering if I put it in the resume just like a regular work experience. Also, should I put it above my current job or underneath it because it’s over (I did the internship while working my regular job).

Thanks!

There isn’t one right way to write a resume (there are a lot of wrong ways!), so it really depends on how you’re planning on organizing your resume. You can organize everything chronologically (which would put your internship below your current job), break things up into "Relevant Experience" and "Additional Experience," or even sort things by skills or positive personal attributes. Whatever proves to be the most effective vehicle for your experience is the best structure for your resume.

As for your internship, definitely include it as work experience, but also make sure to highlight that it was an internship. Here is a Monster.com article about creating resumes:

My son will be one at christmas, is a tree necessary? Also what is an appropriate amount to spend on gifts?

March 312010

My son prefers remotes over his bins of toys and his fine motor skills aren’t the greatest yet so he can’t take part in unwrapping his gifts anyways. Thing is money is tight and he already has so much. Is it really necessary to go all out just because it is his "first" christmas? As for the tree he is into everything and I just don’t see the point, but everyone thinks I am "depriving" him of the experience otherwise. What do yall think?

You’re not depriving him at all – it would be damned irresponsible to splurge on Christmas and not have enough for food or heat in January! Our little girls first christmas, we bought her one keepsake present to commemorate it being her first, a nice book and one teddy. Everyone else in the family bought her so much stuff, we wouldn’t have had room for anything else anyway! As for decorations, why not make stuff with him? Paper chains cost nothing, and are really easy to make, you just need strips of paper and glue. Oh, and you could make edible christmas decorations like cookies as well. You could always get a 2-3ft fake tree for this year, and then let him have it as his own tree in his room in future years? Don’t feel guilty just because other people think you have to go into debt to prove how much you love your kids!

how to get coach driving experience?

March 312010

my boyfriend who currently is a self employed driving instuctor for many years, has recently passed his licence to become a coach driver. he now has a PCV, class D licence and he is trying to get a job as a coach driver, however because he has no experience he is finding it difficult for coach companies to offer him a job. therefore can anyone tell me how he goes about getting more coach driving experience so he is able to get a job with coach companies?

He could maybe try the local service bus company, like First bus or Stagecoach.

good luck to him, and be prepared for long hours and not seeing him for days if he’s away on a trip.

Looking at gift for my 16 year old any ideas?

March 312010

I have a 16 year old daughter, and want to give her a gift experience package for her birthday. What would be a really good gift experience present for her?

You said a gift experience, so maybe check out Red Balloon Days (they are in Australia, but maybe you can get some ideas from their site and do one more local to you).

Things like :
*a horse riding trip
*hot air balloon ride with breakfast
*laser skirmish session with some friends

You could also suggest taking your daughter and a couple of her closest friends out to a fancy restaurant to celebrate. Get them all to dress up in their formal gear, get a limo and meet them there.

Good luck!

Have you ever experience a headache for more than three days?

March 312010

I have a headache for more than three days and the pain intensifies with body movement. If I am relax it does not bother me, but if I move about like walk from one room to the other the side of my head starts to pound. I feel as if someone is using a hammer and hits me repeatedly. I have tried pain relievers but they only work for a couple of hours and pain starts back. Is there anybody else who have ever experience this and what did you do to help.

Go to a Ear,Nose, and Throat specialist. It may be a problem with your inner ear. I had a headache like that that lasted for 3 months before the doctors finally sent me to an ENT and diagnosed me with Benign Positional Vertigo.

What have been your experiences with Victoria’s Secret online shopping?

March 312010

I am looking to buy a jacket, sweaters, maybe coat, from VS online, since retail stores do not carry these items. But I am doubtful about the quality and size and wondering if it’s worth the risk, with having to pay for shipping and possibly returns. Has anyone ordered from them before and what have been your experiences?
Thanks in advance!

I’ve had good experiences so far. The clothes are quality… maybe a little over priced for some items but not for others. The clothes I’ve ordered have tended to run a little small, so to be on the safe side I always order one size larger than what I normally wear. Other than sizing, my experiences have been good. Just make sure you become familiar with their return/exchange policies before you order so that you do not run into any surprises if you want to return or exchange an item
