I need a unique "experience" gift for my boyfriend?

April 42010

I want to get my boyfriend a unique birthday present this year. What I was really hoping to get him was a chance to go skydiving (something he has said he wants to do), but it costs too much. Anyone know of any other "experience" gifts for under $100? Or just a unique and fun gift idea?

Tell him to pack a bag (with whatever the trip may require) or if you live with him, you pack the bag. Don’t tell him where you are going. The element of surprise, & that you did all this planning & concocting soley for his pleasure will be appreciated.

Some Ideas:
Rent a cabin at state park or campground. Perhaps go there earlier in the day, & get it all set up the way you like, with all the campfire stuff on hand.
Plan a white water rafting trip, or parasailing.
Participate in a murder mystery dinner (theater).
Take him to a theme park.

Reliable and Safest web-site for Ordering gifts from US and to be delivered in Pune?

April 22010

I want to send flowers or gifts to my friend in Pune, I am currently in US. I saw couple of such website from Google but I don’t know which is the reliable and safest (in terms of credit card transactions) website. If anybody had experience, please give me advise on this one?

I have used http://www.tajonline.com

http://www.sendgifts2india.com/

Mostly those sites are reliable. I send cake and flowers every year to my mum

My son will be one at christmas, is a tree necessary? Also what is an appropriate amount to spend on gifts?

March 312010

My son prefers remotes over his bins of toys and his fine motor skills aren’t the greatest yet so he can’t take part in unwrapping his gifts anyways. Thing is money is tight and he already has so much. Is it really necessary to go all out just because it is his "first" christmas? As for the tree he is into everything and I just don’t see the point, but everyone thinks I am "depriving" him of the experience otherwise. What do yall think?

You’re not depriving him at all – it would be damned irresponsible to splurge on Christmas and not have enough for food or heat in January! Our little girls first christmas, we bought her one keepsake present to commemorate it being her first, a nice book and one teddy. Everyone else in the family bought her so much stuff, we wouldn’t have had room for anything else anyway! As for decorations, why not make stuff with him? Paper chains cost nothing, and are really easy to make, you just need strips of paper and glue. Oh, and you could make edible christmas decorations like cookies as well. You could always get a 2-3ft fake tree for this year, and then let him have it as his own tree in his room in future years? Don’t feel guilty just because other people think you have to go into debt to prove how much you love your kids!

what state or place is the best place to get a spiritual experience?

March 292010

we are very into the spirit world and we are careful about what we do. only beileve in the using our gifts for the better. but our question is what place can we visit to get a real experience? we would like to visit this place thats had rumors of being haunted or had paranormal experiences.

The moment we realize… we are a soul atman… the spirit within on its cosmic journey… we need not go anywhere for a spiritual experience! We are the source of all power in the Cosmos… God Almighty existing within us in minuscule form as our soul atman. Sitting in the confines of our home… assimilating the wisdom contained in the Sacred Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism… I finally reached God in 1993… At 37 years of age!

Experiencing God is the end goal of cosmic life… the last stage of physical manifest life… the 8.4 millionth manifestation! The best spiritual experience one can get in the house is practicing pranayama… the breathing practice! Who is it that requires breathing… it cannot be the physical manifest body?

It is our soul atman that seems to reside within our heart that needs pure oxygen to survive. Through the process of pranayama… lying in the Shavasana pose of yoga… when we concentrate on our breath… we finally reach the source… the one needing breath! Realizing our true inner self… realizing our true nature is what spirituality is all about!

It is our soul atman… the spirit within that has manifested the human body to work out its karma… remove the dross impurities within! It is not within the capability of the body… the human form to manifest a soul atman! Similar as one KG of pure gold cannot separate itself from lump of hundred KG of gold ore… every soul atman requires a chain of 8.4 million bodies until it regains its original prime pure pristine primordial form.

In present times… the present Kali Yuga… the Dark Age… the metal age it is even more difficult to find the right preceptor (spiritual master)… one who has gained enlightenment (kaivalya jnana). Mahavira… the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism (preceptor) rightly said that unless one becomes a Mahavira… an enlightenment one… one must never indulge in preaching!

For reaching the stage of enlightenment and finally salvation… for undergoing a spiritual awakening or experience… assimilating the wisdom contained in the Sacred Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism suffices. Bhagavad Gita is one such document… the knower of which finally becomes the knower of all… gains omniscience forever!

The best method of undergoing a spiritual experience is… the process of self enquiry… the process of Neti (not this, not this) as preached and advocated by Maharishi Ramana. In Neti… one negates everything except God Almighty… and what finally remains in the end is God Almighty himself!

Lying in the Shavasana pose of yoga… I have practiced the path of Neti throughout my life! The process of self enquiry if done in right earnestness… is exhilarating… without a parallel! In the last about 150 years only two people reached the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and then salvation (moksha)… sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana!

Reading literature related to any of the two… is an eye opener! Books on Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana are available world over. Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa was the spiritual master of Swami Vivekananda… whose famous speech at the World Parliament of Religions in 1893 took the world by storm. My free weekly newsletter "Spiritual Secrets Unveiled" is read by thousands world over. One can discover the pearls of wisdom as inner meanings of sacred scriptures unfurl. How do I request charitable donations instead of gifts for my 4-year-old’s birthday?

March 272010

She doesn’t need more toys, and my experience with friends of mine who’ve requested that people NOT bring gifts has been ignored by well-meaning guests.

We’ve decided that instead of saying "no gifts" to politely say "if gifts, please give a donation to XX, a local children’s cancer charity." How do I write this politely on the invitations without it coming across like an expectation?

Last comment, she’s already getting all kinds of gifts from family members, this is the party with her friends. No worries, the child is NOT deprived. :-)

Word it in a way that’s funny but serious at the same time….try something like:

Please join us in supporting the local children’s cancer charity fund by giving a gift in (your child’s) name to (name of the fund). Help us find a cure for cancer!

That way people know that you support the fund too and you’re not asking them to donate AND give your child a gift.

Regardless of what you want people to do, there are bound to be some people who will insist on bring a present though so don’t be shocked.

Happy birthday wishes to your little girl!

How to earn money to buy Christmas Gifts?

March 252010

How does a 12 year old earn money to buy Christimas Gifts?

I want to have atleast enough money to buy my mother something for Christimas. Also I want to have money to buy my friends gifts. Because They’re buying me gifts, and I would would feel horrible to not do it in return. But my mother goes first. I really wanna buy gifts for my friends & family. But I just don’t know how to earn enough :S

Maybe at this time of year, raking leaves would be good or offer to help people with hanging Christmas lights. Next year, start saving in July!
