What are some unusual restaurant experiences in New York City?

June 162010

My husband and I really enjoy restaurants that are a little unusual. Fondue restaurants, hibachi grills, renaissance restaurants, revolving dining on the 50th floor… you get the idea. We are planning a trip to I KNOW there have got to be some wonderful dining experiences in New York City… but searching through a conventional search engine is proving difficult. Has anyone been to NYC or lives there and knows anything exciting to visit?

What have been your personal experiences in this regard ?

June 82010

Darkness is not always bad. Remember, it is only when the sky is dark, at night ,that we get to appreciate the bright shining stars which are not otherwise visible during the day time. When we apply this analogy of Darkness to the sad moments of our life, we should use those moments to discover the bright stars of wisdom and perseverence within us so that we share this experience to bring our friends out of their grief.

What have been your personal experiences in this regard ?

Well said and spot on.

Any personal experiences on getting a cat declawed?

May 302010

Ok sorry but Im not going into details nor will I pay any attention to those of you with nothing but negatives comments. I am getting my cat declawed tomorrow (I have thought about it-and made my decision). Im just curious about post-surgery and care of my cat. Also any personal experiences you may have had with your cat(s).
Thank you.
LOL thanks for the one good answer so far sheesh how annoying some of you can be!
Oops sorry I have a few good responses thanks!

Well firstly i’ll let you know, your going to get a lot of negative responses… but I won’t be one of those people to give you one!… I have two cats, one declawed, and one isn’t… for my first cat, i had the appointment all set up for her and everything, then I did my research, and thought it was an awful procedure and I didn’t do it… BUT.. the only reason I chose not to do it, was because she NEVER uses her claws.. not on furniture, or the other animals.

Now my other cat, who is a male, used his claws like crazy!… on the furniture, he cut my poor dogs eye open, and he cut my legs open a couple times… he’s a very sweet cat, but he just LOVED using those claws!… I was very upset that I was getting him declawed, and worried like crazy that he would be in a tremendous amount of pain… luckily, I go to a VERY good vet, and they kept him on high doses of pain killers to numb the pain, and also kept him over night. When I picked him up the next day, he acted totally normal! (he was also nuetered at the same time)… The vet sent me home with some pain meds that I had to squirt in his mouth twice a day (which he hated)… he was a little drousy for a couple days, but about a week later, he was back to his old self.. and does not act any differently.

I’m sure your cat will do just fine… just make sure you have a very reputable vet, because it is a very serious procedure.

What is one of your experiences with marijuana?

May 282010

No criticism aloud! Just tell me one of your experiences with the drug. Either good or bad experiences are appreciated.

I puked 3/4 times I tried pot. The time I didn’t, I slept it off. It was hard for me to breath also. My boyfriend smokes pot a lot, and he seems to be fine with it, but just the smell of it makes me sick. I was told I was allergic to the THC, but I wouldn’t know. I’m not stupid enough to try it again. After being left alone at a party because the low lives were scared I was going to die. My father had the same issue when he had tried it, and it had no effect on my mother. At least I can drink a ton without getting sick the next day. =) Good Luck? Not sure why your asking. =P

What have been your experiences with volunteering?

May 252010

Truthfully I hated it. Its like working but without getting paid, also I think what ruined the experience was the rudeness of some of the staff and not being appreciated for my volunteer work. I did it twice, at a science museum and at a library. Volunteering is just not for me. Have some of you had similar or better experiences with volunteering?
I haven’t volunteered for anything ever again since my experiences with volunteering.

I have had a wide variety of experiences but most places are very grateful for their volunteers. However, some places get too many volunteers or volunteers who don’t follow through or who call at the last minute looking for volunteer hours to fulfill some requirement and so on, so then it is difficult for the staff to really appreciate it when they do get good volunteer help.
The better experiences are the ones where I have arranged for it ahead of time or are in charge of a project or am part of a group running a project. There are so many different ways out there to volunteer that I hope you try to find something that works better for you.
Maybe join some kind of volunteer/community service organization where you work with a group of people and where they have a variety of projects that they do during each year.
For example: a Lions Club — they do fund raising activities during the year such as meals like pancake breakfasts and the money they raise is used to provide eyeglasses in the local community and around the world. They also do many community service projects that vary with each club – cleaning up a highway, volunteering at events for schools for the blind, and many more.
