April 22010

I’m writing about my stand on a flaw in the education system and im using my experience in elementary school as the example throughout the whole essay. Of course, I explain how I overcame it and why it’s important to my growth. Would it be okay to write about an elementary school experience?

What was your experience with Automatic Writing?

March 312010

I tried it today – A couple words were Italian and a couple were from ancient country called Media (which is currently Northern Iran).
Several words came up that I cannot find a English translation for.
Next time I do this I will definitely ask for my Spirit Guide to write in English. I actually found this fun and interesting.
What experiences have you had?

I can do it rather well. I have had numerous experiences with it writing in different styles etc. Much like a person ouija board I believe.

how do i start an essay writing about a personal experience?

March 292010

i have to write about a bad experience at work. i wana know the structure and and what should be my thesis statement

Make sure it has an intro, body and conclusion. Start off with some words that grab the reader’s attention. For example if I am going to write about how I spilt my coffee all over a report,(I know it’s not that major, but just for an example) I might start off with something like…

"Some days just go completely wrong and today was a day where it did. I just sat down at my desk in the office with a fresh cup of coffee. When I thought I had a few moments to relax, the phone rang and I jumped up, spilling my coffee all over a report and not to mention my clothes…"

Well…I guess that is more like an opening to a fact-based story! But sometimes essays can be like that.

You can include more details too, like why you jumped up, why you were stressed, and more details into how bad the day got….all because of a cup of coffee!

The thesis statement for this essay, would then be "How a cup of coffee caused me a bad day at work"

I know this wasn’t much information, but you could also try this link. http://www.infoplease.com/homework/writingskills2.html It has helped me in the past at writing essays. Good Luck. :)

Where can a 14 year old go for work experience in Journalism/creative writing in Bristol, England?

March 252010

Hi

My daughter is looking for her year 10 work experience placement. She is really into creative writing and would love to be accepted at a magazine. The only problem is she doesn’t want to go too far from home. We thought BBC magazines based in Bristol would be brilliant, but they only accept over 18’s. Does anyone have any bright ideas. Shes sent an email to the local paper, but is still waiting to hear.

Thanks

Instead of sending a letter to the local paper, she should actually pay them a visit as they are more likely to take on someone who shows initiative than someone who just sends out an email, especially since they will no doubt receive countless letters/emails from kids in the same position.

She could also get in touch with the universities in the area as they often run newspapers and might be willing to take her on for a placement.
